At the time we wrote the book, there was an abandoned project to run a VNC server on Mac OS X to get remote access to the desktop. Since that time, things have picked up again. Here's weblog entry from Forwarding Address: OS X that discusses the software and how easy it is to configure.


To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to attach a new process to another window server. I'd be delighted to hear otherwise, though!
