Why Web Developers Need JavaServer Faces
Subject:   Why Sun?

Why does this have to come from Sun? Why does it have to be a JSR? Couldn't a equally good--or better--solution come from Apache, IBM, or some other player in the Java space?

The problem I have with Sun and JSRs is that they try to throw everything, including the kitchen sink, into a specification and wind up with something that is overly complex and doesn't serve developers' needs as well as products already on the market, or that might have soon come to the market. And yet, they end up effectively killing those competing products because the result of the JSR becomes "the standard."
