Battery stamina is an important issue to me -- primarily because I'm usually depending on a wireless network for my Internet connection. It doesn't do any good to unplug the Ethernet cable if I have to use the external power supply.


But to keep things in perspective, even as Apple fine tunes the power consumption under Mac OS X, my PowerBook 400 still outperforms my ThinkPad 600X. In fact, when using either my Lucent wireless card, or the internal modem, the 600X battery only lasts 45 minutes before forcing me to shut down or sleep. That's brutal on the road.


Suddenly my Mac OS X PowerBook isn't looking so bad ...
