  Microsoft Plans Shared Source .NET

Given the freedom of aplicability of open source, it really makes no sense for MS to inject itself into the arena. It would seem to me that MS is trying to corner yet another market by simply implying that it has software out there and owns it.

In other words, if MS writes a specific application or utility and hangs it's name on it, then by the time some user has returned it to the pool, it will give MS a clear avenue to hang the poor user out to dry beacause of some obscure sentence MS has added to the souce code that doens't allow change wiht MS's say so.

I would consider any intrusion into the open source arena as dangerous at the very least.
