Most of the current linuxes already display in k. So why use the -k option? Why use a -c, the total shouldn't even factor in! We're trying to find disk hogs! Of course the total will always be the biggest one!


So why not just use du -s *|sort -nr or even du -sh|sort -nr


The reason you may be tempted to use the -k is that not every unix uses k. In Solaris for example I've had to use the k. So for consitency maybe. But this is just for linux hacks!
