  Python-Powered Templates with Cheetah
Subject:   Cheetah difficulties

Too bad the article doesn't mention significant difficulties using Cheetah. One obvious thing is that Cheetah puts a great lot of magic to resolving placeholder names, the kind of magic that often (in large projects) turns out counter-productive. Second thing is, unfortunately and partly due to inherent Python shortcomings, Cheetah's poor performance. The third and most significant problem is Cheetah's constant in-beta stage and a great mass of bugs. This is from someone who has been, since three months, using Cheetah - or rather constantly struggling to use - to develop commercial production web portal. It will surely take quite a bit of time and hard coding for this template engine to mature.
