Thanks for the suggestion... the file, sadly, is rather similar to the original config file. Here it is...

#<VirtualHost *>
# ServerAdmin webmaster@dummy-host.example.com
# DocumentRoot /www/docs/dummy-host.example.com
# ServerName dummy-host.example.com
# ErrorLog logs/dummy-host.example.com-error_log
# CustomLog logs/dummy-host.example.com-access_log common

Include /private/etc/httpd/users

What do you think? I'm off to check a friends machine who is running OS X to see what the file should like like.
