This is not really an option that is available to most first-time authors. It is usually done by someone with a serious track record and known brand -- someone who could successfully start their own publishing company, but doesn't want the overhead of doing all parts of the business.


That being said, there are definitely options with most publishers to get a higher royalty by delivering camera-ready copy. But even there, you'll need to demonstrate that you can produce a book that meets the publisher's quality standards without going through the publisher's own editing and QA processes.


If you have previously published successful books, you can discuss the options with the people you work with at your publisher. If not, there's no advice I can give you here that will likely get you the foot in the door.
