What Corporate Projects Should Learn from Open Source

I think corporate projects could indeed learn a lot from open source projects, especially around how to work with a distributed team of people who haven't met each other (think off-shoring).

But the corporate-to-GIMP success rate comparison doesn't hold water: take a look at SourceForge.net some day and consider how many projects are permenantly stuck in the pre-planning or alpha stage, never to release a working piece of software. I'd bet the ratio of those failed Open Source to GIMP-like projects is much worse than 30%.
