Hey, I have often seen LB system forwarding your www.yourdomain.com request to a ww1.yourdomain.com thru wwX.yourdomain.com

Pros:
1) Server afinity - HTTP / HTTPS
2) Seems like a simple solution

Cons:
1) You'll need individual SSL certs per machine
2) Can't have high-availability

Q0. Is my guess work good :-) ?
Q1. How is such a solution implemented?
Q2. Does it require any special hardware, software?
