As a self-published author, I have to admit that it has been challenging to get notice for my book. Since my book has a tightly focused niche, I never even sent it out for consideration to major publishing houses. Still, the book has managed to win 5 awards, including an award at the BEA in New York and I've had book signings at Costco, Barnes and Noble and other bookstores.
Although I haven't sold 100,000 copies, I have provided people with intriguing and insightful content that they could not obtain otherwise. I've met my goals, maintained my sense of integrity in terms of my mission and vision as an author and learned to wear many hats. Self publishing has been an interesting ride.
