  Semaphores in Linux
Subject:   Semaphore and Mutex monitoring

One area where Linux is deficient is semaphore and mutex performance monitoring. Solaris and AIX have lockstat, which is very useful when doing driver development, benchmarking, and database tuning.

I am aware of SGI lockmeter, which requires a kernel patch and SystemTap, which lets me roll my own script, after I install it and rebuild the kernel.

Is there anything more mainstream for this type of performance monitoring on Linux?
