Played with this on IE 6 for a 5000+ record table.


I can't believe the performance difference on this versus straight DOM -- Document Fragment is incredibly fast (its clocking about 50x on this data set).


Hadn't seen this approach anywhere before, but it certainly is faster.


We still have to block and use a background "thread" to process things, but it is much better. And it still keeps things clean.


For a smaller data set (like 1000 records), we could definitely get away without the blocking (but 500 records feals about right from a responsiveness standpoint).
