Upgrading to Jaguar: Installing

by Nat Torkington
Aug. 26, 2002

The upgrade process was relatively painless, unless you count taking an eternity as painful. It was over an hour, closer to an hour and a half, and seemed stuck forever on "less than a minute to go". That must be the lie of the 21st Century!

I panicked halfway through when I skimmed the instruction booklet and saw something about needing to select various options to preserve home directories and users. That must have been for some other situation, though, as I simply installed the CD, took all the default choices, and it installed like a charm without losing data.

Well, much data ... I do seem to have lost some preferences. I'll be describing what's changed in my next few blog entries ...
