FedEx doesn't deliver

So, I ordered a PowerMac G5 Dual 2Ghz last week (yes, yes, I know, faster ones are coming out Real Soon Now). It was scheduled for delivery yesterday. Because I've had trouble with UPS finding my house in the past, I put my wife's office address down for delivery. She works for a bank and the bank's building she works in is 2 million square feet. Mr. Magoo could find the place.

I called her sometime after lunch to see if it had arrived yet, and she said it hadn't. I checked the status on the web and saw no updates for it. I finally called customer support to learn that it wasn't delivered because the delivery location was "closed" -- the building is open 24 hours a day. After calling FedEx twice and asking for someone from the local office to call me back about this (and never receiving a call back), I called again for a third time and was actually transferred to someone from the local office. He told me he didn't know where it was, and put the driver that delivers to the building on the phone. The driver didn't know where it was either. So, basically FedEx has not only not delivered my PowerMac, but they've lost it on top of that.

How can you lose a PowerMac? It's not like it was an iPod Mini! I guess the same guy that can't find a 2 million square foot building can lose a huge PowerMac box.

Isn't FedEx's core competency supposed to be delivering things?

Judging by a few of the results from that Google search, Apple customers seem to have lots of problems with FedEx. Do you have a computer delivery (or lack thereof) experience to share?

I cannot keep straight who screws up more, FedEx or UPS. One delivery attept was given to me at work, and I found out about it by getting a post card from the USPS! I called the number on the card and asked them how the post card can make it to me, but my package cannot? They said irritatingly, that they always get that question and it is because the PO has a better address database. Kinda a lame excuse.

I get those postcards from UPS all of the time. That's why I decided to have the PowerMac delivered to what I thought was an easy location.

I will cut UPS some slack because my house is the first one on a new street, but they still should have figured it out after a couple of missed attempts.

guess you made one FedEx person very happy with his/her new G5...

Good thing you took insured shipping so you can get Apple to send you a new one at no cost to you.
And why not take USPS delivery if they're better at finding your address?

Or maybe DHL (are those offered in the US?).

Hey I work for Fedex
I have gotta tell you that anyone would be crazy to ship a high value electronic device by fedex. The way they handle non conveyable goods is horrible. It is a miracle if they survive the sort hub. The boxes are tossed around and stacked like garbage, but then so it the Express Mail and Priority Mail that Fedex is carrying for us now. I have seen truck axel housings tossed on top of computer boxes. (Yes, some are G5's, Dell, and Hp's.)

I guess cost cuts are the blame. I have watched this once great company become stingy and mean as they seek to take over the mail, buy Kinko's, American Freight, and RPS. Not to mention the layoffs and forced retirements.

Hey I work for Fedex
Well, they just delivered it minutes ago. I worked for RPS while in college for a while, so I definitely know that packages aren't handled gently. You've got to pack stuff like it's going to war.

But, in reading the "FedEx sucks" results from Google I've seen posts from other FedExers and it sounds much worse now than RPS was back then. And it doesn't stop inside the hubs. I saw more than one account of management pressure on drivers causing them to fake delivery attempts.

Cost-cutting has definitely gone too far.

Relevance?
Um, other than the fact that the item being shipped was a Mac, what is the relevance of FedEx's ability to ship things, to the technology focus of the O'Reilly Network? How is dissatisfaction with the performance of company X, which is not a technology company, an appropriate topic?

I generally like the O'Reilly Network, so I have to say that I sincerely hope griping about random companies that occasionally fail to meet a blog author's expectations will not come to be considered a normal or appropriate topic for blog entries here.

Relevance?
You're probably right. I'm new to blogging on the O'Reilly Network and I'm still feeling my way around. My thinking was that it was a computer delivery and that FedEx is such an IT driven company.

Thanks for the feedback.

DHL bought Airborne Express which gave them access to the US market. DHL and the USPS are the only carriers we use

I agree, FedEx does not deliver.
A friend purchased a new G4 about a year and half ago. She lives about ten miles from the closest town but has had many deliveries from FedEx and UPS with no problems. I was at her house during most of the week so I know no one left the house at any time yet FedEx claims they made three or four attempted deliveries and, despite emails and phone calls to their 800 number, the computer was sent back to Apple. Apparently Apple is familiar with this poor service from FedEx and they seemed to do their best through out that week and the following weeks until the computer was finally delivered. A formal complaint was sent to FedEx as well as the BBB in Knoxville where FedEx head offices are located, I believe. I don''t remember all the details of the apologies and other attempts that were finally made to try to make my friend forget this bad experience. However, the experience sure left both of us with a bad taste for FedEx. The weird thing is that she did receive something from FedEx during the week the so called attempts were made. Of course that driver knew nothing, NOTHING about the computer.

Similar problem
I had a similar issue when I bought my Powerbook G4 back in February. I had it delivered to my house, which FedEx has delivered stuff to dozens of times in the last year. I took the day off from work so I could be there when it arrived. I tracked the package all day, waiting and waiting. FedEx had stated it would be delivered before 3PM. Well, at 3PM the status changed on the tracking saying that they attempted delivery and no one was home. I was furious. I called their customer service, placed a complaint, and 20 minutes later the driver showed saying that he went to the wrong house. No way possible. If he had even been in our neighborhood, I would have heard his truck. I didn't. More than likely, he blew it off thinking he could get away with it. He didn't.

It really bothers me to hear these issues more and more. I will never ship with UPS, they are the worst. USPS is not much better. I have always considered FedEx to be the bes in the biz (which isn't saying much, I know). I think that title will have to go to DHL/Airborne now.

You may want to rethink whom you ship with. DHL Express going through major changes, since they bought Airborne Express, and the changes are more for the worse than the better. I've been with ABX for many, many years and am being laid off soon due to merger. Many customers are taking their business elsewhere because DHL will not offer services that ABX offered. Their primary focus is still the international market, though they claimed that they wanted to get into the domestic market. We have had nothing but complaints since the merger and customers are not getting the same personalized service that they got when ABX and DHL were separate companies. Rather than one person taking care of a # of things, it takes several people just to get one thing done. Also, if you send an email to DHL regarding something, the response back is a computer generated message (WE WILL RESPOND TO YOU WITHIN TWO BUSINESS DAYS). Then, if you get a response and you send them another inquiry on the same situation, you get the same message. In other words, GETTING ONE THING DONE COULD TAKE UP TO FIVE OR MORE BUSINESS DAYS!!! Completely unprofessional! But, from what I understand, this is the way that international companies like DHL operate/their mindset. I am totally serious and not making up anything. I am just stating facts.

Ok...i work for fedex customer service. Too bad your so wrong it's just funny. More than likley the courier was nice enough to reattempt pkgs in the area where there wasn't anyone home then, realized he had made a mistake a corrected it. You calling us and bitching about it, wouldn't have gone through in 20 minutes. So sorry you don't get to feel all high and mighty like you actually did something about your problem. I would suggest you not bad mouth a courier that was going out of his way to reattempt pkgs that were unsuccessful earlier.

It's true. When people ship pkgs to addresses that they don't research first and check to make sure it's correct and complete address, we sent it by us mail and let them figure it out becuase they do have an adress database since it's the FEDERAL MAIL.

FedEx Sucks
I recently contracted FedEx for a next business day delivery of a time-sensitive legal document in New York City. Three days passed and the package was not delivered. The tracking information shown online indicated "incorrect address" and my package was returned. But the delivery address was error free. FedEx's explanation was that they physically went to the address and was told that the recipient was not living at the address. FedEx refused to re-ship the document. Apparently, FedEx was lying! A shipping agent that I used to send the package was kind enough to pay FedEx again to re-ship the returned package to the same address with an assurance that the address was still good. A week later, the tracking information indicated that my package was finally "delivered" to a person whose name was different from the recipient at a different location. (I assumed that the recipient must have authorized his friend to take the package on his behalf.) One month later, I was told by the recipient that he had not got the document that I dispatched. I called FedEx and was told that they had delivered my package to another person at another location, which was different from the address I correctly put on the address label. FedEx's explanation this time: they made a mistake. Later I found out that the location they "delivered" my package to was one of FedEx's own locations in New York City. I have a strong reason to believe that FedEx simply lost my package at some point and was making up a story trying to shirk its responsibility.

I believe he is right. Fedex sucks, I ordered a computer and had it shipped via Fedex. It came in three packages, one for the monitor, one for the tower, and one with my keyboard and mouse and various software titles. I live in Clarksville, TN, 45min outside of nashville, and i check the tracker around 9p.m. the night before it was supposed to be delivered. It was in Nashville, hooray! Wrong. Not only did it not get delivered, they sent the keyboard box out to Knoxville! How incompetant are these people? They didn't even deliver the other two boxes. I guess the skill level for working at fedex isn't above that of a 3yr old.

RPS - Rarely Properly Shipped
Receive Package Sometime
Really Poor Service
Ripped? Practically Shredded!

We had RPS for a long time :)

UPS - Unopened Packages Somtimes
Unique Poor Service

FedEx - Fast Efficient Delivery - Excluded

DHL - Damaged Half-opened & Late

I thought it absolutely, positively was going to be there OVERNIGHT!
In a nutshell, I ordered holiday cards online. They were shipped Fedex Overnight. They made it to my hometown (Carmel, NY) at 12:06 pm yesterday, and I kept waiting and waiting for the delivery. Turns out that the courier must have had a busy day, and for some reason, DID NOT FINISH HIS DELIVERIES! Are they NUTS??! They are FEDEX! How in hell could they allow an employee to return to the facility with undelivered packages!!?? I am astounded, and in awe. I will gladly use, and recommend, UPS in the future.. while UPS may not be perfect, they do not guarantee something that they are not equipped to do...

Recommendation: Fly it there yourself and hand deliver it before resorting to using Fedex.

FedEx sucks
Yes, I had the same troubles with FedEx.
On all 3 occasions FedEx could not find my address even though it exists for over 40 years and my address is confirmed through FedEx's "Address Checker".
This time it's been 2 weaks of everydays attempt to deliver and same result "Unable to locate address".
After first attempt failed 2 weeks ago I called them and asked to leave the package at their facilities for me to pick it up because Christmas was approaching. And I left my cell phone number for the delivery person.
So far - I have not gotten it and they can not find the package to leave at their falilities.
Delivery person claims he can not get hold on me even though my cell phone is on 24/7:(:(:
Definetely my Christmas plans were ruined.

I guess FedEx hires the dumbest personnel ever.

At least I would not be trusting what their personnel tells you - it's for sure.

FedEx Sucks
They really suck!! We had a shipment sent ground on 12/27/04 and received the confirmation and tracking from FEDEX with a delilvery date of 12/29/04. We checked it the morning of the 29th to see that it was in our nearest hub at 5:30am and expected it to be deilvered that day. No such luck!! Without making an attempt to even put it on the truck and deliver it they update it with "cannot locate recipient". No duh, you stupid morons...if you actually tried to deliver you would have found me!! After several calls with the same script of "it was an address error" I got fed up. It's the same dang address you deliver to every other week!!!! How can it be wrong when your own email you sent me had the same correct address?? They assured me that a message would be sent to the hub to make sure it would be on the truck next day. The 30th came and went and no truck again. The 31st updated to show it was now on the truck and out for delivery. Yeah!! Oooppsss I spoke too soon..remember this is FEDEX we're talking about. At about 8PM I called again to find out where my package was now only to be told they deliver even later if they have too. Well, at 8AM the next morning the website still showed out for delivery...that's one heck of a route they gave that guy or he's on some serious uppers to keep his shift going. Either way, it's New Year's Day and they don't deliver today, tomorrow or even Monday since it's home delivery. So now I get to wait almost a week past the day they said I'd have it...that's if they manage to somehow miraculously find the box, get it on the right truck and the driver heads in a northerly direction towards my house and accidentally finds my street. When it absolutely, positively has to be there on time....use UPS! Have a great day!

I just got royally screwed by FedEx. If you ever have a claim against FedEx, forget it! Don't bother to insure any package sent via FedEx, because you are wasting your money. If you have to ship anything of any value, don't ship it by FedEx. I needed to ship a laptop, and the recipient asked that it be shipped by FedEx. That company has special boxes for laptops, which I requested when I ordered the pickup. When the driver arrived, he didn't have the special box, but he took the computer anyway and said he'd put it in a laptop box later. He didn't, and the computer arrived damaged. When I put in a claim with FedEx, they denied the claim, saying they require laptops to be shipped in their special box and mine wasn't. Go figure.

Stop the usage of tracking numbers
DHL announced today that the will stop using tracking numbers on packages with immediate effect.
"We can't seem to keep track of our packages even if they have tracking numbers, so we have decided to get rid of these numbers since they in effect are redundant", said a DHL representative.
We tried to get a comment from the DHL management, but they claimed that they could not find the e-mail we had sent to them.

Thanks O!

I have had too numerous to count with Fedex. I have a small computer business, and the distrubutor, sho usually ships with UPS, has cut corners at times and shipped with FEDEX. I am sorry to say that pretty much every shipment with FEDEX has been late, crushed, or both. THEY SUCK! I have had problems with UPS, and with USPS, for that matter. However, not even close to the extent to the magnitude that I have suffered with FEDEX. The reason I even found this website today is I am steaming from hanging up on a FEDEX rep. I am waiting for a shipment from the Chicago warehouse. It is three days late. that would be a problem if I lived in California, or Georgia. I'm 35 minutes North of Chicago!!!

When you go to a website to order, if they USE FedEx, order from somewhere else. In fact, send Customer Service or someone at the company an email telling them you wanted to place an order, but you won't because they use FedEx. The more places get the message, the more companies that will drop FedEx.

I ordered something for my brother who is back from Iraq for 2 weeks. FedEx said they couldn't find the address (despite UPS NEVER having a problem). In fact, the closest FedEx is over an hour away. They had the package for a week, stating on their tracking site that they are contacting the recipient (my brother), yet they never once made any attempt to contact him to find out how to deliver it or where he's at (he was at the address it was to be delivered to). I contacted the company I ordered from, and they called and finally had to threaten FedEx. After two days of that, a FedEx truck shows up, and asks about the address of his neighbor -- but they have no package for him. On their website, they say they delivered his package. He is in a rural area with 3 neighbors, and none of the neighbors have the package, and it is definately NOT at his place.

He has not left to go back to Iraq, without his package -- and it is COMPLETELY FedEx's fault. In fact, they are not handling the claim because they said they delivered it. They definately did not deliver.

I refuse to purchase from companies that use FedEx. I take the time and let companies that I was planning on ordering from know that I was going to order from them, but changed my mind and ordered from a competitor because their competitor DOES NOT use FedEx. I won't order if they use FedEx and say they will send my package by UPS or USPS -- they can either drop FedEx altogether, or lose my business. Spread the word -- and FedEx might listen.

Oh, So you don't like FedEx? Let me tell you about your beloved DHL. I happen to work for the cheap S.O.B.'s and that is exactly why shipments are late. We are understaffed and severly underpaid so if you really need to send something like paperwork, save yourself the grief and fax it. All of us drivers have had it with this bullcrap. Why they lose big packages all the time?
I purchased a computer system, which was shipped by FedEx. It was 2 days delivery service, and it seems to have been changed to over 5 days delivery service.
I contacted the customer support and they said they would call me back,m and I have never heard from them so far. When I track it on their homepage, yesterday it showed the pickup time and thye arrival time in trasition, and it said the estimated delivery date, which was yesterday. But now when I track it, it dosn't show any time schedule and transition details.
I thought FedEx was reliable company, but I was wrong. The United States Postal Service do much better job! From now on, I prefer not use online shopes that use FedEx.

I'm going through a similar problem with an Apple order shipped via Fed Ex right now. According to the web site, my package was delivered 5 days ago, and it was... to the WRONG address. After phone calls to Fed Ex and Apple, I've been able to figure out that my power mac (not a small package) is sitting 9 miles away, signed for by someone who is not me, at an address that's not even in the same county. Seems a large university had placed a big order, and the Fed Ex person just happened to throw in my computer for free. However, all I can do is twiddle my thumbs until someone can locate it, pick it up, sort out the mess, and get it to me.

I understand that mistakes happen, but at this time, I've heard conflicting excuses and dealt with less than friendly or helpful service people. On Friday, I was told that the driver who made the original delivery was out sick and they hadn't been able to tell anyone else to look for the package. Today, I was told that the form for reporting the mistake had been filled out wrong by one of the first THREE people I talked to and they've only now begun researching the mistake. Would I mind waiting another 2 days while they look into it?

This is the second time Fed Ex has misdelivered an Apple order to me (they dropped off a monitor at a neighboring apartment a year ago), and their internet tracking is a complete crock (do you know how frustrating it is to look at my order online and see the words ''delivered' with no additional actions?). I wish there was a way to have Apple ship only UPS -- I received the first part of my order through them almost 2 weeks ago.

don't buy from online stores that use fedex
i have had multiple bad experiences with fedex. for my latest, i ordered an mp3 player for my wife. i wanted to have it before the weekend so i ordered it fedex next day before 10:30am, the highest most expensive shipping option they had. the item shipped on wednesday, and i expected it thursday.

thursday came and went. friday morning came and went. so i called fedex friday afternoon. apparently, they delivered after 10:30am on thursday, so i was not home to receive. they have this great policy that if they fail to deliver when you paid for them to deliver, then any re-attempt can be made anytime, so i missed the delivery on friday as well.

so the person told me i could pick it up at the fedex facility. whoops, they forgot to tell me that the delivery truck doesn't get back before 6:15pm. so i drove to the facility for nothing. also, they close at 7pm, so if you want to pick it up from the facility, you have between 6:15pm and 7pm to do that.

also, there was no "we missed you" note left on on my door, so i had no idea what was going on (the shipper never gave me a tracking number either).

i will never again order online from a site that ships fedex. they are a bunch of amateurs.

Trust Me, UPS Isn't Any Better
For the third time in 2 weeks, and the 6th time in 2 months, I had a screwed-up UPS delivery yesterday. At least yesterday's problem was that the package didn't show up on my doorstep until after 7 pm. Earlier this summer, my street name was misread by the person who sorted packages onto the trucks and the package arrived a day late because the driver couldn't find a house with my number on the other street. Twice, digits in my house number were transposed and my packages were delivered to my 80+ year old neighbors, who screamed at me because UPS disturbed them to make the delivery. Another package was misrouted early in the delivery process, and got to NJ from Tennessee by way of Nevada. And this doesn't begin to touch on the condition in which many packages arrive -- UPS doesn't stand for Unlimited Package Smashers for nothing.

This isn't to say that FedEx doesn't have its drawbacks, but I'd take FedEx over UPS any day.

Fedex is lost!
I ordered my daughters Halloween costume early..so that we would get it on time and be able to make any adjustments that might be needed! The package was due at my home address, where I've lived for seven years, always get my UPS packages here..never a problem! The package does'nt show up, so I go online to check status..it says-Delivery Exception..Incorrect address. I triple check the address they have..it's correct. So then I call customer support, they talk to my local terminal, and let them know to re-try delivery..that the address is correct. Well, this morning(saturday)a Fedex driver calls our home at 7:14am...and leaves a message that he tried to make the delivery yesterday, but that the person at my address; and he repeats my correct address over the phone, told him that The Vandergrift's no longer live here, they moved. !!!I was home all day yesterday...waiting eagerly, as we all await!, and no one ever came to my door! When I called customer support later this morning, after waking up and hearing this message, I was first hung up on! So I redialed and yelled into the automated computer thing, for customer support..I finally got an agent who then transfered me to my local terminal, and I retold my story to the agent there. She tells me that the driver has already left, my package is not on the truck, I have the option to drive 40 miles to pick it up myself or I can wait until Tuesday to get it..because they only operate from Tuesday till Saturday. How nice. I suppose this too is my fault, I should have been up with the birds on my first morning off. I should be willing to drive my car 40 miles or more to get it myself..hell, I can be my own fedex driver. I might as well ask anyone in my surrounf=ding neighborhood if they are expecting anything from fedex, I could pick it up for them. Dont busy the driver with actually making the deliveries...give him a break. Really what I think happened was that the driver missed the package, and came up with some insane fairytale of a lie and guess what? When my package comes here on Tuesday, I'm going to ask him to show me which house he went to..I'll go and knock on their door...get to the bottom of it! Also, as a little dying flame...because I was volcanic by the time I found this site, I had to describe my house and surrounding cars and even how many houses down before it was my house..can you believe this? I dont live in the amazon..I get packages all the time, hell, even the teenage pizza drivers can find my home! Fedex is lost..I will never use this service again. The last time I had anything come by way of fedex, it was my $900.00 Gateway computer, I was home all day waiting for that, and the fedex driver dropped my big Gateway boxes right near my door, but never rang the bell. Now that's using your head! Fedex sucks!

Just wondered how your issue was resolved; because I have a similar problem. I dropped my package off at a FEDEX authorized drop-off location, but it was never delivered. According to FEDEX's tracking system the package was never scanned in. The drop-off location says it doesn't have the package and FEDEX is saying they don't have it either. FEDEX says I can file a claim, but because the package was never scanned in, they might not reimburse me. The drop off location says that I can't file a claim with them because I used a prepaid mailing label and did not pay them to send the package. I'm looking for a way to get FEDEX or the drop-off location to find my package or pay for its contents. Any suggestions?

Fedex Customers Suck
I'm an Fed Ex employee and although i've been with the company for more than 13 years, I do hate it, but I'm stuck working for this piss ass company untill I retire. That doesn't mean I get a kick out of what you dumb asses write and all your worthless complaints. Go read the UPS sucks forums and you will see the same complaints with different names. People make mistakes, we're human. Just like you dumb asses who ship with Fed Ex, you all make mistakes too. Just a few examples...

1. Don't try and rip the company off by using your automated system and put 1 lb for your package that actually weighs 75 lbs. We catch this and when you do, we actually make that 75 lb box a 150 lb box, so when you thought you were trying to get by on us, we actually screwed you in the in.

2. Don't try to stuff more than 8 oz's in an overnight letter. First of all, it doesn't fit and when we lose all the contents in that package, don't blame us, blame the ass whole who tried to fit more than the 8 oz's. It says right on the letter, up to 8 ounces. Also, when you do this, we usually mark it up to a 10 lb pack to once again, try to fuck the dumb ass customer...it's all a game to us, don't u see.

3. For all you schmucks that use airbills, a little advice. The airbill comes in 3 parts. A Customer copy, a Fed Ex copy and a Recipient copy. Don't take the Fed ex copy, thats how we bill your silly asses. Once again, when you take this, this leaves us no option than to take revenge on you again and make that package a 150 lb package, so when you get your bill and see that you shipped a 150 lb package it's becuase you took our copy like a complete moron because you can't read correctly or are trying to get over on us once again.

4. Even if the pacage has the correct address BUT has a incorrect zip code, it's still considered a bad address. So when you say, it's the correct address, actually, no it's not. We sort by zipcodes idiots and if you don't have the correct zip code it goes possibly to another station that doesn't service your area, or ends up in the missort pile. This also lets us charge you an extra 10 dollars for not havnig the correct zip code. Oh yeah, for all you dumbasses that forget to even put a zip code on the airbill....once again.....it shows us that you customers are as stupid as you think we employees are. It all goes hand and hand.

5. When we hand you a delivery manefest to sign. It is numbered 1 through 36....1 being the first line you sine and so on until we fill up the page going sequencial to 36. Why would some dumb ass sign on line 18 if there as been no other signatures. I'll tell you why, you all are fucking idiots. When that does happen, it lets us know who is a fucking moron and we make fun of during the sort the next day.

6. For the dumb ass who said he had a 10 am delivery he was waiting on. Ok dumbass, but we don't have a 10 am service. Nor does UPS, or DHL...it's 10:30.

I could go on and on, I just figured I would write a little bit how much you customers suck as much as us fed ex employees do.

Thanks for the kind words, it does make me laugh to read about all your misfortunes. Yes, I'm sure some of the problmes were ours, but I'm willing to bet 90 % were your fuck ups.....

Insurance is actually Declared Value
Whether or not Fedex customers 'suck' or Fedex employees are wreckless and ignorant, the important fact for consumers to realize, and Fedex employes to come clean about, is the 'insurance' issue.

Truth: Fedex does not insure any package. Even if you pay extra for the 'insurance' of that package, it is not insurance, it is 'declared value' - which really means nothing. In fact you can try this anywhere and it works. Go into a Fedex Ground facility. Ask the representative if you can insure your package. They will tell you 'yes'. You will pay an extra fee and input the amount in the declared value section of the Customer Shipping Record. If your package is damaged in transport, the Fedex Ground Claims representative will tell you that Fedex employees don't correct customers on this issue and it is a matter of semantics. Therefore, you will never receive your 'insured' amount even if the item was completely destroyed in transport.

Look on the back of the Customer Shipping Record, it clearly states: FEDEX GROUND DOES NOT PROVIDE INSURANCE OF ANY KIND. This is true. The extra amount of money you are charged is to state the 'declared value' of the goods you are shipping - it is not insurance. Again, it is important to understand - if your package is damaged by Fedex Ground services you WILL NOT receive any of that money back. The declared value is simply a guideline to Fedex of what the value of the package is.

If you want to insure your goods you will need to use another method of transport, say USPS or some other carrier. It is important to know and understand this now and not fall victim to semantics.

Fedex Customers Suck
I too am a fedex employee and every one of the shipping companies have issues. No we are not perfect and we make more mistakes than none. I have ordered things and recieved them from UPS as well as USPS. My packages from USPS arrived damaged as well as late or never arriving at all. UPS delivered late as well as damaged also. Customers complain about the price of shipping packages. Do you realize how much it would cost to buy a plane ticket and fly it there yourself. You are paying for fuel for the trucks and planes. The employees wages that picks up your package, sorts and delivers your pacage. Not every experience is a bad one with Fedex. If it were the case we would not be in buisness. There are millions of satisfied customers. If your packages arrive damaged try speaking to the shipper of the package. I had a customer tell me that she shipped some wine glasses in a box filled with peanuts. They arrived broken. Duh! What did you expect.. I brought a computer on EBAY and the idiot shipped the monitor in a box with peanuts.. I wasn't mad at USPS. I was mad at the idiot shipping it. I paid for insurance but it could not be honored because it wasn't packaged properly. We employees are not always handling your packages. They go through a system of mechanical slides, arms and bump other boxes. As for couriers faking deliveries. Please. I have seen it first hand being an ex courier myself. We call from the callbox and your on the phone and won't answer, knock on your door and maybe your in the shower or even on the toilet and don't hear the door. I had a stop once where I went to pickup a package and the lady's door was wide open and I yelled inside and rang the bell. She never answered. I left only for her to call and say I was never there. I told the dispatcher tell the lady that her yellow couch was nice. She then apologized and said "Oh I must have been in the laundry room!" You people act as if you sit by the front door for hours all day and we just never show up. Take some responsibility!

FEDEX REALLY DOES SUCK
Yes, indeed they do! I bought a Motorola Maxtrac Radio ($400) and carefully tracked the package. It was set for Saturday home delivery service so we waited all day around the house to make sure we didn't miss the delivery. Well, around 8:30pm we gave up. We again checked their website and surprisingly enough saw that according to Fed Ex our packages were delivered at 6:37pm when we were at home sitting near the door. We called Fed Ex and they explained the packages were delivered, but they had no idea as to where they were delivered as it obviously wasn't to our house. To make matters worse, the next day was Sunday & the following day Monday, a holiday, so they said "just call back Wednesday & see if we know anything" I was so pissed off I repeatedly called them & demaned action as well as expressed to them through language I won't repeat how lame and crappy their poor-assed service is!!! Every time I see one of their trucks I wanna throw a rock at it! FedEx, you guys SUCK ASS!

Well, the FedEx driver just showed up here on SUNDAY at 4:30pm with our packages! The driver said she just had "way too many stops" yesterday & decided to finish them on Sunday. I'd have been ok with that BUT she shouldn't have logged them into the system as delivered! UPS or USPS next time please!

FedEx -No delivery-Fedexcuess
I bid on a Dell Latitude D510, fully loaded on ebay and won. I paid as soon as it was confirmed that I had won the laptop. The person I purchased it from sent it on December 16th, It arrived at my local facility on December 18th. I went on line to track this package, Said it was to be delivered on December 22nd. Well December 22nd came and went, so I called the customer service (and I use that term lightly) number. They assured me it was on the truck and it would arrive on the 23rd, well the 23rd came and went, now Im getting a little worried because this was a christmas present for my daughter to use for college and because of the price I didnt get her much else. December 24th,called fedex again, they said not to worry due to the volume of packages they were running a little late, but promised it would be here by eight-o-clock pm, needless to say they did not show, so I call again only to be told that the facility was closed and they would not reopen until the tuesday following christmas because monday was a holiday for them. Not much I could do about it now, so I wrapped up a picture of the laptop and let her know it would be here the following week. On Tuesday Called customer service again to try and locate my package. They could not find it, and ask me to call back the next day, which I did for the next six day only to be told they still could not find it but not to worry, they still had not delivered all packages that they received before christmas. Well here it is another holiday New Years and of course they would not reopen again until the tuesday following new years. Called customer service again and ask to speak with a supervisor, after being on hold for around 8 min. some yahoo who I suppose was playing the part of management came on the phone and said maybe I should file a claim. I didnt have any other option did I, so I ask the process and what was needed to resolve this. I was told I could go online and file the claim and submit all the supporting information that they needed, I did just that, and I made copies and also faxed them (12 pages of info). Ok now were getting some where right? Hey it only takes 5 to 7 days to resolve a claim. The seventh day passed,so I give them another call to see when I'll receive my claim. Guess What? They lost all my paperwork and I would have to refile again. I refaxed the information and had them refax me to confirm that they had received it. Well another seven days passes, I call them today to get my claim information, and they inform me that I have to have the seller contact them and let them know its ok to pay me. Wondering why the seller (who already received payment) has to request that I be paid, when there not out anything, they said because shes the one that shipped it,well yes I know this, but shes not the one who lost or it my opion stole it,and why didn't they tell me this when I first filed. I asked them the second time I sent the information if that was everthing that they needed and they said everything was in order. Well it's 31 days later and I still have not made any progress. So now Its another 7 days of there incompetence. Oh yes, I was also assured that someone would call me or email to let me know what was going on. Anyone out there thinking of shipping on fedex, DON'T. I will never use anything except UPS or USPS. Maybe when my daughter completes her 4 years of college they will have processed the claim.

Ok, do you ppl have any idea how busy the mail system gets near a holiday? No you don't, so shut the f*#k up. They have too many packages to fit on their trucks, that is with the addition of 15 to 20 temp drivers to help out during peak. That might be why there is a lot of bitching going on near the holidays. And you think Fedex is bad, UPS and USPS have 2 to 3 times more packages than them. I am not saying all fedex drivers are trying hard all the time, but most are working their asses off. And Fedex, unlike UPS, gets paid per box so the drivers are going to get as many boxes off as possible so they get more money. Sounds good right? Now if you all have this much of a problem with fedex or any other mail service, why don't you STOP ORDERING SH!T!!!! Get a life retards

You must be joking right? You are going to get on here and bitch because someone was to busy to get all her stuff done on her work day, and decited to work on her only day off to get your package out. And FYI fedex don't like ppl working on Sunday, so she was forced to scan it as delivered on Saturday that way she would still get paid for it when she did get it delivered. Come on ppl, you all know your the reason prices are going up don't you. These companies wouldn't have to hire so many customer service ppl, if you all would use your head. Ok a little run down. 1. Mail services get busy during the holidays, order sooner or not at all. 2. If you order something make sure the address it correct with the shipper. 3. If you can't be home to sign, don't have it signature required. 4. last and most important, think before you start bitching. Most of those guys are working their asses off to get you your mail. Believe it or not they are trying to get the job done, because if it stays on the truck tonight. Guess what, they still have to do it deliver it tomorrow. Now if you all want something to complain about how about Pizza Hut delivery drivers. They are the ones that I have the problem with.

I am posting the problem i had with my shipment on all the websites so people are aware before they choose Fedex.

I had a package coming from India. Fedex delivered it to 900 Fairway instead of 980 Fairway. I dont know if the driver was drunk or was an illiterate, I have been calling Fedex from past 2 days just to hear that they are working on this to trace the package.

The package had important documents related to my visa and i am in deep trouble. Beware before you choose Fedex for your shipping needs.
