MediaPortal RC2 was released a few days ago. They release information says it is mainly a stability release. However, it also mentions a new test tool, plugin and skin, and the ability to start MediaPortal on a second attached screen.

The FileZilla 3.0.0 (client) was just released. However, it isn't obvious to me what has been changed or added in this release from the various links I checked on its main website. If anyone knows, post a comment here to let us know what is new in release 3.

win-get: Automated Installation from a Software Repository

I haven't tried...


...but I definitely am keeping my eye on it with great interest. Unix/Linux users are probably familiar with the apt-get application that can automatically install application from software repositories on the Internet. apt-get proposes to do the same for Microsoft Windows users. The project already has an impressive library of freeware and Open Source applications ready to download and install over the net using win-get.

The primary thing new in 3.0 is the Linux and Mac version. :-) To make it cross-platform they had to do a pretty substantial rewrite, which is why it took time. However, I've also heard a lot of the internals were improved in the process, hopefully making new features faster to implement and get working.

I've recently written an open-source C# app.

ZScreen is an open-source screen capture program that allows for region/window/full-screen screenshots. It can FTP screenshots and put the URL in your clipboard in a single keystroke. It supports automatic custom naming conventions with variables. It can also interface with image editing software.
