Has Microsoft Heard Power Users?

by Preston Gralla

In my last blog, I wrote that Microsoft has abandoned the power user. But there's also some possible good news: The company says the next version of Internet Explorer will include features dear to the hearts of power users.

I applaud your optimism, but I'm pretty sure we won't all be happy.

I think the question is still valid. It sounds like you have softened your position on the basis of "their hopes". That doesn't sound like much of a commitment to me. We will see shortly whether they honor their hopes or not. As for Vista, I have already given up on that. I sincerely hope that the buying public will read the writing on the wall and choose an operating system on the basis of needed features, hardware support, and third party enhancement friendliness.

Since when is a crippled UI the exclusive concern of the power user? You should be blogging the facts and discoveries such that IE7 deletes files when using drag and drop and has other vulnerabilities.

But what do we get? Rumors about a low level leaker which only serves to perpetuate the over-promise but under-deliver slump this company is in.

The reason IE7 is yet another failure is because all types of users have found a reason to be disappointed. I think this Microsoft product remains an equal opportunity offender. As for you? You should donate this week's paycheck to charity and go to confession or something.

In Vista.
Just press the Windows key in your keyboard, hit the R key in your keyboard and press Enter. You will get all the power back. But you need to know command-line commands.;-)
