For reasons I've never understood Python never quite got the hype that other dynamic (scripting) languages like Perl, PHP, and Ruby have received during different periods over the past 20 years. Nevertheless, Python has not only driven many a utility or full application but also generated variants such as Jython (written in and integrated with Java) and IronPython (runs on and integrated with the Microsoft .NET Architecture).
