My life as a manga hero

by Rick Jelliffe

Fun software at http://www.faceresearch.com/ allows you to age or youth-ify your face, turn it into an El Greco painting, or morph it into a Manga hero.

Actually, the face transformer is on Bernie Tiddeman's website. He is the computer scientist who makes all of our work at faceresearch.org possible.

Well, see http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Manga.png

Super deformation: big eyes, small mouth and chin, like a baby or doll. But not all mangas use super deformation, sure.

Obviously there are many styles of Manga drawing (and having lived in Japan, I would not make such a sharp distinction between anime styles and manga styles, especially pre-computerization, though of course the story telling and technology has different requirements.)

For what the face research people were getting at, see
