Redhat is expected to announce today that it is working on a desktop version of Redhat Linux.
"'The ambitions are grand, but the expectations are going to be moderate at the outset,' Chief Executive Matthew Szulik said in an interview. 'What we're focused on for the next 12 to 18 months is doing a great job in the enterprise, the government and academic marketplaces.'"
What are your thoughts on this move? Is this a recovery move from the blunder of abandoning its desktop market with Fedora, a Hail Mary now that SuSE/Novell has become such a serious player, the announcement of a long thought-out strategic plan by Redhat, or something else?
