It isn't made by Apple though. They're just going to announce it on the same day at Macworld.

Oh, uh, never mind. They must've been updating the page or something.

It looks like a tablet made by ripping apart a MacBook and sticking it's inards into a tablet case with a touchscreen. Not that exciting to me.

Interesting comments. If it is not by Apple the idea is suddenly not as hot? If it was by Apple it would surely be a world shaking sensation.

I think it rather brave by Axiotron and OWC that they try out the idea for Apple. I am just curious to see how Apple will respond. And I am curious to see how well it works.

A tablet Mac is certainly not a mainstream product, but I know a couple of people who worked with Tablet PCs and swear by them. There are many uses for a Tablet Mac that make perfect sense such as running surveys, protocolling various things, mobile data aquisition. Some of them require large screen estate. When the Newton was alive, my company alone had about a dozend large scale projects where hundreds of Newtons were to be used as tablet input devices. Unfortunately, Apple was not flexible enough regarding hardware modifications so most of them did not materialise. Interestingly, Andreas Haas, who runs Axiotron, once was in Apple's Newton Systems Group.

PS. Take a look at the Board of Advisors of Axiotron: Those guys know the Mac market. And obviously they believe there is a market for a Tablet Mac.
